Courchevel 1850 is known as the most "upmarket" ski resort in Europe and certainly boasts some luxurious hotels. The top two are Byblos Des Neiges and Hotel Bellecote.
Courchevel offers skiing for all levels, but is best for intermediates. If you want to ski Courchevel but don't want to shell out the big bucks, stay at the lower villages: La Praz or La Tania. These are also more conducive to families.
The resort visitors are made up of about 40% French, 40% British and 20% other. It is the biggest resort of the Les Trois Vallees (3 valleys) ski area.
