Egypt Encapsulated Egypt - 15 days Day 1  4. Cairo City Tour, Giza Pyramids & Sphinx, Aswan Our first day in Cairo is at leisure followed by a day trip to visit the famous Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, Egyptian Museum and Citadel. We catch an overnight train to Aswan and have time to explore the sights, including an optional excursion to Abu Simbel. We also take a visit to a local Nubian village to understand their traditions and culture. Day 5  10. Felucca Cruise, Luxor, Cairo A highlight of any Egypt trip is sailing down the Nile River. We spend two days floating down the worlds longest river in a traditional felucca sailboat. Luxor is a virtual open air museum and we explore the temples covered with hieroglyphics and ride donkeys to the Valley of the Kings during our time here. We visit an animal care project before returning to Cairo and take a guided walk through the city including the Khan al-Khalili bazaar. Day 11  15. Nuweiba, Mt Sinai, Cairo We travel through the Sinai region, watching as the desert terrain turns into sandy beaches. We stay in simple beach huts and spend time swimming or snorkeling in the crystal clear water. On one evening we experience the hospitality of the Bedouin people. We also trek up scenic Mt Sinai for fantastic views of the Sinai interior before ending our tour back in Cairo. Cairo, Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza , Luxor, Felucca Cruise Our first day in Cairo is at leisure and the following day we visit the famous Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum and Khan al-Khalili bazaar. In the evening we catch a train to Aswan. While here we ride camels to the abandoned monastery of St Simeon and visit a local Nubian village. You can also take an optional excursion to Abu Simbel to see the incredible statues of Ramses or explore Aswans other sights at leisure. A highlight of any Egypt trip is to take to the waters of the Nile in a traditional felucca sailboat. By day we sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery; by night we sleep out under the stars. Day 6  7. Luxor, West and East banks In Luxor we explore antiquities of temples covered with hieroglyphics and learn the stories of the ancient Egyptian gods in this virtual open air museum. Karnak Temple and the pharaohs rock-hewn tombs in the Valley of the Kings are highlights visited here. Day 8. Cairo We return to Cairo early in the morning after an overnight train journey where our tour ends. Aswan to Alexandria Egypt - 15 days Day 1  6. Cairo, Aswan, Felucca Sailing In Cairo we have a couple of days at leisure before catching an overnight train to Aswan. Discover the sights of Aswan over the next two days, including a popular optional excursion to Abu Simbel. A highlight of any trip to Egypt trip is taking to the waters of the glistening Nile in a traditional boat or felucca; our Nubian crew guides us down this ancient thoroughfare over the next two days. Day 7  11. Luxor, Alexandria, Siwa Luxor is a virtual open-air museum and we visit Karnak Temple and the pharaohs rockhewn tombs in the Valley of the Kings. We then head down the sparkling Mediterranean coast to Alexandria and spend time soaking up the very atmosphere that once enchanted Cleopatra and Marc Antony. Next, we visit the lush, green desert oasis of Siwa and the vast, maze-like ruins of the mud brick fort that overlooks the town. Day 12  15. Western Desert, Cairo We spend the next few days discovering the Western Desert and its small but thriving oases and experience the nomadic lifestyle of local Berbers in this enchanting landscape. Aswan, Nile Cruise, East Bank Antiquities In Aswan, we visit the Temple of Philae located on an idyllic river island. You also have the option of flying to see the incredible statues of Pharaoh Ramses II overlooking Lake Nasser at Abu Simbel. From Aswan, we board traditional Nile cruise boat and drift down the Nile past villages frozen in time. We visit the riverside temple of Kom Ombo and magnificent Temple of Edfu and Horus. Day 7  8. Luxor, Cairo In Luxor we visit Karnak, the largest temple complex in Egypt. The following day, we cross the Nile to explore many of the west bank antiquities, including the Valley of the Kings where the richly decorated tombs of many great Pharaohs are cut into the rock. We fly back to bustling Cairo where our tour finishes.
