Imagine driving a team of huskies into the wilderness of Fell Lapland, a vast landscape where the snow lies heavy on the branches of the trees and the only sound is the swish of your sled's runners cutting through the snow. Sheer magic!
sauna and provide a great place to bond with your fellow adventurers before setting off into the wilderness on your safari. On your last night you can sleep in a log cabin or an ice room at the remarkable Snow Village at Lainio. The snow village includes a Snow Castle which features sculptures and bedrooms created by some fine artisans. In the ice rooms, your bed is a block of ice. Reindeer hides provide insulation and an expedition grade sleeping bag keeps out the Arctic chill. If it all gets too much, you can retreat to the comfort of the warm room.

Sunday: Flights, arrival, and introduction
Your dog sled safari starts on Sunday evening with an introductory dinner hosted by your guides.
Monday to Friday: Five day husky safari
On day two you will be provided with your equipment and thermal clothing and be taught how to handle both the dogs and sled. After lunch you depart into the wilds. The huskies will pull your sled through snow laden forests, across fells and over frozen lakes and rivers covering up to 40km per day. Only the hiss of the sled's runners breaking through the snow will disturb the perfect silence and you'll soon realise that you have left behind the hustle and bustle of everyday life far behind. Everybody takes care of their own dogs before preparing breakfasts and dinners together. Weather permitting, lunches are eaten by open fires on the trail. With no light pollution this far north there's a great chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis which means that the night sky may well provide a remarkable show that will remain imprinted in your mind forever. After lunch on Friday, the final leg of your adventure takes you back to the wilderness centre. In the evening there will be a farewell dinner.

Saturday: Free Day or Lainio Snow Village
After the returning to what we laughingly call civilisation you have two choices. You can try additional activities (payable locally) here at the wilderness centre or we can take you to Lainio Snow Village where you can spend the last night of your holiday sleeping on reindeer skins in the snow castle (supplement applies).
Sunday: Airport Transfers and Flights
Return transfers and flights home. Sorry!
Accommodation - our opinion
Safari Houses and Wilderness Cabins Accommodation on this holiday is in shared safari houses and cabins. Despite being rather basic (no electricity or running water) the cabins are comfortable and cosy, especially once dinner is cooking over the open fire. Before and after the safari, you sleep in a shared safari house located close to the main building of our wilderness centre.
