beaches
The Costa Dorada takes its name from the golden beaches that stretch for almost 150 miles along the calm shores of Catalunya from Sitges in the north to Hospitalet DEnfant in the south. For those who enjoy a beach holiday the Costa Dorada offers a warm summer climate with the long sandy beaches, which shelve gently into the shimmering Mediterranean, offering safe swimming even for small children and plenty of watersports.
Spanish life. In summer months there is an artisans market in the Masai Catalana, Salou, where you can buy all kinds of handicrafts. The regular Salou Monday street market is another highly popular attraction.
nightlife
There are bars, discos and clubs galore in Salou, the liveliest resort on this coast, and while La Pineda has less venues, theres still plenty of choice for a fun night out. Many hotels host flamenco shows for a real feel of the country. And you could spend a tasty evening sampling various tapas bars.

places to see
See the sights of Barcelona both historic and modern, take in Tarragonas Roman ruins and medieval quarter, travel inland (and back in time) to the 12th century monastery of Poblet and the Gothic church of Montblanc, experience the atmosphere of Montserrat and leave time for loads of fun at PortAventura Theme Park.

getting around
Bus services along the coastal road range from fairly speedy inter-city routes to slow stopeverywhere local services. Inland routes are less convenient, with fewer and more meandering routes. A hire car would be the best option for general exploration of the region.
eating out
Fresh grilled fish, the local zarzuelas (like the French bouillabaisse), butifarra sausage and bean casserole, speciality cheeses, herbs, and garlic all feature in a feast of regional dishes. Try the good (and inexpensive) house wines of the region or buy a bottle of Rioja to complement your meal.
car hire
Avis offers total flexibility and a wide variety of cars. Enjoy the freedom to explore, so you can go wherever and whenever you want this holiday.
Salou
shopping
Barcelona would be hard to beat for everything from stylish stores to cool boutiques and designer labels. The pottery in the region is another best buy. It has a distinct colour with blue or green images of flowers and birds on a white background. Bustling weekly markets are very much a feature of Call 0870 60 60 100 (lines are open 0600-midnight, 7 days a week) Visit our website www.airtours.co.uk where you can see hotels and places of interest plotted on detailed resort maps.
