Corfu
Corfu holds a magnetic appeal for all tastes and ages, from families looking safe beaches, sports enthusiasts seeking out the thrill of water-sports, ramblers coming to enjoy the scenic countryside or sun-worshippers
simply in search of some of the best beaches in Greece. The capital, Corfu Town, provides an atmospheric glimpse of ancient bygone civilisations, whereas popular seaside resorts such as St George and Sidari promise golden sands and a good choice of restaurants and bars.

Sidari
Transfers: 1hr 10mins (coach), 35mins (taxi). With a Canal d'Amour which `promises' you'll find `true love', a vast sandy beach with shallow waters and heaps of water-sports, lots of tempting places to eat out and socialise, including a few discos, Sidari (about 38kms from Corfu Town) caters for all.
Summertime p219
Transfers: 5/10mins (taxi). Walking through Corfu Town is like taking a trip back in time. Venetian houses, the popular esplanade, Byzantine churches and fortresses, the Palace of St Michael and St George, even a cricket pitch! Add to this several museums, the island's Patron Saint Spyridon Church, narrow streets full of atmosphere, great tavernas and bars plus a wealth of ever-so-tempting shops and boutiques. The area of Alikes is 4kms away, close to the `disco-strip' for good entertainment.
Paleocastritsa
Transfers: 40mins (coach), 30mins (taxi). The most picturesque spot in Corfu with amazing views everywhere you look, not least from `Bella Vista' or the Monastery. There are four bays (three with water-sports) and taxi boats provide access to other ones. There's a good sprinkle of tavernas and shops along the twisting road that leads to the village. You'll find that the majority of bars and tavernas have impromptu folklore shows at night. While steep hills contribute to the splendid views, they do make the area quite unsuitable if you have walking difficulties.
