Pamporovo has a unique claim to fame this bright, modern ski resort is the sunniest mountain resort in Europe. It boasts no less than 270 sunny days a year on average, and in the winter provides an ideal combination plenty of snow and plenty of sparkling sunshine to show off the resort at its best. Pamporovo is high among the Rhodope Mountains in southern Bulgaria (a beautiful region, said to have once been the home of Orpheus), set amongst magnificent pine forests. It is tailormade for skiing, with quality hotels and a really good selection of bars, restaurants and entertainment. The charming county town of Smolyan is nearby, and Bulgarias historic second city, Plovdiv, lies 80km to the north.

Although particularly suited for beginners and intermediates, Pamporovo has a Giant Slalom run, which really taxes the experts too. Balkan Holidays guests can choose from some of the best hotels in the resort, including the Malina Chalet complex and the five star Hotel Pamporovo. In previous seasons a number of improvements have been carried out in the resort including a high-speed four chair lift between the bus station and Studenets area, expansion of three of the existing tracks, as well as the new comfortable transport operating between the main ski area and the center of the resort (1.5 km). The increased number of snow grooming machines and the improved ski equipment, and wardrobes, will add a valuable advantage to a great ski holiday.
