Bridge & Wickers is an independently-owned company and the UK's only dedicated tour operator specialising exclusively in selling luxury `experience-led' holidays to just one part of the world - Australia, which features in this brochure, and New Zealand and the South Sea Islands, which we cover in a separate one. Our approach is also unique. Rather than simply describing our various destinations, our suggested itineraries focus on the amazing experiences that Australia has to offer. You'll find our brochures refreshingly different to those of other tour operators. The team of highly experienced professionals at Bridge & Wickers have travelled extensively Down Under and have both an unrivalled depth of knowledge and boundless enthusiasm for our destinations. Our consultants can provide impartial advice on the various experiences on offer and help you create a perfect holiday based on your requirements and interests. From then on your individual consultant will become your personal contact at Bridge & Wickers at every stage of your journey. We arrange holidays for independent travellers, whether going on their own, as a couple, a family or with friends. We have also included a small selection of high quality escorted tours that can be dovetailed into your tailor-made itinerary - where, for example, the overall experience would be considerably enhanced by travelling with an expert. We work only with the very best local companies, including many that are Aboriginal-owned. We have also included lots of suggested activities to help you get the most out of your trip, all bookable through our travel consultants.
Unlike many companies named after individuals, there really is both a Bridge and a Wickers. Jerry Bridge comes from an enterprising travel family background, his father Walter having founded the well known Bridge Travel Group. After journeying around the world in the mid 1980s, Jerry set up and later sold the successful long haul agency, Bridge The World. With over 20 memorable years in the business he has taken the best of what he has learned and channelled this knowledge into Bridge & Wickers. David Wickers was, for 17 years, the Chief Travel Correspondent on The Sunday Times and on three separate occasions was voted the UK's Travel Writer of the Year. He has a wealth of travel knowledge and is in a unique position to understand what consumers should expect from a top tour operator. He most certainly sees (and writes) things from a fresh perspective. Although from different backgrounds, Jerry and David share a passion for the destination and offer an invaluable insight into what Australia has to offer. They are not in the least surprised by recent newspaper and magazine surveys that put the country right at the top of the world's `must-see' destinations.
