Southern Belle
The greatest abundance of native wildlife, including the elusive kiwi and yellow-eyed penguin, is to be found on Stewart, New Zealand's third largest island, as well as the south of the country and the Otago peninsula near Dunedin.

The starting point for this jaunt is a flight from Invercargill to Stewart, a totally unspoilt island where you'll spend two nights at the Stewart Island Lodge on the edge of Half Moon Bay, an island retreat with wonderful sea views, five rooms and a garden teeming with native birds. On the second day, you'll join a half-day tour to Ulva Island, visiting the 500-acre forest sanctuary - home to some 70 species of bird found nowhere else in the world and protected from all predators.
Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula
After flying back to Invercargill, you'll be met by a guide and a 4WD to be taken on a fantastic private wildlife journey, first to explore the wildly eroded Catlins coast, where you can see penguin, dolphin, seal and sea lion, and the petrified and native forested inland terrain that's abundant with bird life.
