Explore this corner of Egypt that is far removed from the rest of the country as we take you through the ancient oasis of Siwa, home to antiquated temples and Cleopatra's pool, and then to Mediterranean Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great. Deserts, date palms, amazing sights and magical sunsets abound on this fascinating journey.
Day 1-4, Cairo - Wadi El Natrun - Siwa - From lively Cairo we drive to the famous Coptic monasteries at Wadi El Natrun where monks have lived in seclusion since the 4th century. Here you can take a guided tour from one of the local monks. We then arrive in Siwa where there is time to explore many famous temples, visit the `mountain of the dead', and take an optional jeep safari to the surrounding desert. Day 5-8, Alexandria - Cairo - In the morning we travel to Alexandria, a laid-back city with great beaches; there's plenty of time to relax and admire the seafront here! Alexandria, as well as having many famous sights, is home to one of the sixth lost wonders to disappear into the sea. On day 7 we visit the catacombs of Komel-Shokafa and Bombay's Pillar before heading back to Cairo for one more night.

Starting in chaotic Cairo, the largest city in Africa, this journey encompasses all of the traditional and famous sights that your mind conjures when the word Egypt comes to the fore. You'll visit amazing temples and pyramids, sail on a Felucca on the River Nile and glimpse dramatic evening sunsets beneath the pyramids. Cairo is a city that can appear daunting at first, but when you get below the surface you'll see it has many exciting and historical pockets to discover!
Day 1-6, Cairo - Aswan - Felucca cruise - Explore the Egypt you've always dreamed about and take in the hustle and bustle of Cairo's bazaars and famous sights. On day 3 we travel to the popular traveller's hangout, Aswan, where you can peruse the Nubian bazaar and enjoy some free time. From Aswan we visit the famous Abu Simbel temple, dedicated to Ramses 2nd and his beautiful wife Nefertari, before our memorable 2 night Felucca cruise along the Nile. Day 7-11, Luxor - Cairo - We disembark our cruise, drive to Luxor and include a visit to Karnak Temple. The next morning we will rise early to ride donkeys into the famous Valley of the Kings, which is home to many great pharaohs including Tutankhamen as well as scores of Egyptian monuments. After another free day in Luxor we travel back to Cairo for our final night.

Please note: It is possible that the Egyptian Government may stop tourists from using overnight seater trains between Cairo and Luxor/Aswan. If this does happen we will have to use the sleeper trains and this will attract a surcharge of US$35 per journey. We hope that this change does not come in to effect but recommend that you check at the time of booking for the latest information.
