Rajasthan epitomises what India is all about: opulent palaces, colourful bazaars, desert landscapes, and markets with turban-clad locals tending their camels. Marvel at Pushkar's beautiful, sacred lake; legend has it one dip cleanses all of your sins. Explore Udaipur, a city regarded as the most romantic in India. Take an overnight camel safari into the desert, and lose yourself amongst the mural-covered havelis, temples and chhatris in southern Rajasthan.
Day 1-5, Delhi - Jaipur - Pushkar - Our tour commences in Delhi. Explore bazaars, markets and the largest mosque in India, Jama Masjid. We then travel to the `Pink City', Jaipur, where hilltop forts and glorious palaces tell of the city's royal past. There is free time for an elephant ride before we make our way to the peaceful lakeside village of Pushkar on the desert border. Day 6-8, Udaipur - Jodhpur - Our next stop is Udaipur, regarded as the most romantic city in India, with white marble palaces, placid blue lakes, stunning gardens and roaming green hills. We relax in the tranquil surrounds, and you can take an authentic cooking or Hindi class before we depart for busy Jodhpur with its massive Megerangarh. Here you can roam the bazaars and narrow lanes, visit the dominating fort, or relax in a café and watch the colourful saris and head turbans of the passing people. Day 9-12, Jaisalmer & Overnight Camel Safari - Bikaner Gleaming like a mirage in the desert, Jaisalmer is the departure point for our camel safari into the Thar Desert. The desert has undulating dunes and vast expanses of flat land with leafless, thorny trees. Following on, we explore the old oasis town of Bikaner. This town is famous for its merchant havelis, maze-like lanes and Junagarh Fort, one of the finest in western Rajasthan. Day 13-15, Shekhawati - Delhi - After discovering the famous chhatris (monuments) and havelis (merchant homes) of arid Shekhawati, we return to lively Delhi for more shopping and sightseeing. This is the perfect time to buy your last souvenirs, take photos, and absorb the smells, sounds, and tastes of this beautiful land.
