21 days · Delhi to Delhi India The Facts · 95% hotels, hostels & guesthouses, 5% overnight camel safari · No meals included · A combination of private & public vehicles: buses, trains, taxis, minibuses · For info on how it all works see pages 4 to 9 · Entrance fees to sites listed as part of the itinerary are not included Exotic, imposing and adventurous, India is a land where romantic palaces abound and glistening deserts pave paths to bazaars with intriguing spices and authentic delights. Discover it all - towering fortresses atop desert landscapes, serene hillside communities and majestic architecture created in the name of love. Go on a desert camel safari, observe tigers in Ranthambore, discover religious monuments in southern Rajasthan, and lose yourself weaving through Delhi's chaotic markets. Day 1-6, Delhi - Agra - Ranthambore National Park (Sawai Madhopur) - We dive straight into the hustle and bustle of India and venture from energetic Delhi to Agra, the home of the world famous Taj Mahal. In Agra you can visit the Red Fort, the I'timadud-Daulah, and one of the best chowks in India. We then visit the world's most famous tiger reserve in Ranthambore NP. You can spot tigers almost daily and marvel at this fantastic reserve complete with crumbling temples, mosques, crocodiles and birds. Day 7-11, Samode - Jaipur - Pushkar - Our next stop is Samode, a quiet town dominated by a Palace decorated with 300 year-old wall paintings which still look almost new. We then travel to colourful Jaipur with its pink wash buildings. Here you can shop for jewellery and textiles and there's time for a visit to the famous Palace of the Winds, built for the ladies of the harem. Following on, we travel to Pushkar, a small, magical, desert-edged town famous for its temples and revered lake. Day 12-15, Udaipur - Jodhpur - Arriving in Udaipur, we have time to enjoy the placid lakes, white marble palaces and green gardens that typify this beautiful town - regarded as the most romantic in India. We depart the serenity for busy Jodhpur, Rajasthan's second largest city with its massive Meherangarh Fort. Shop up a storm at the bazaars or wander the narrow lanes and admire the atmosphere. Day 16-18, Jaisalmer & Overnight Camel Safari - We venture deep into the desert to Jaisalmer, an old caravan trading town full of markets and camels. Then you can travel back in time with an overnight camel safari into the Thar Desert. Day 19-21, Bikaner - Shekhawati - Delhi - Following on, we explore the old oasis town of Bikaner with its merchant havelis and maze-like lanes. Bikaner has an impressive fort but it's no match for the Karni Mata Temple, where some 2,000 holy rats reside. Next, we explore local villages and elaborate havelis with wonderful murals in Shekhawati, before returning to Delhi. Enjoy some last-minute shopping and sightseeing, or simply absorb the local culture of this wonderful city. Choose your options!
