Beginning with a visit to the stunning `Spice Island' of Zanzibar, we travel north to Arusha, where you have the option to visit the famous Ngorogoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. Then, admire the sea of pink flamingos in Lake Nakuru before our visit to the famous `QE2' National Park. We take an unforgettable trek in search of the rare Mountain Gorilla before finishing in Uganda's bustling capital, Kampala.
Day 1-6, Dar es Salaam & Zanzibar Island - We begin on the shores of the Indian Ocean in Dar es Salaam, our gateway to the exotic `Spice Island' of Zanzibar. We spend the first few days of our adventure relaxing on golden beaches and discovering the bustling mosques and grand Arab architecture that abounds in Stone Town. Day 7-13, Arusha/Ngorogoro Crater/Serengeti National Park - Nairobi - We now travel to Arusha, our base for optional visits to the famous Ngorogoro Crater and the Serengeti NP. The Ngorogoro Crater is a collapsed volcano, home to a variety of wildlife as well as a soda lake with flamingos. At the Serengeti NP you'll camp surrounded by the sights and sounds of wild, rugged Africa, and you could spot herds of wildebeest, antelopes, zebra, buffalo, lion and cheetah. We then make our way to Nairobi, the busy capital of Kenya. Day 14-20, Lake Nakuru National Park - Eldoret - Kampala - Queen Elizabeth II National Park - We take a drive across the Great Rift Valley of Africa, arriving in Lake Nakuru NP, known for the thousands of flamingos that inhabit the lake's edge. After a stop in Uganda's capital, Kampala, we visit the famous `QE2' NP where you can take a game drive and give your camera a workout! Day 21-24, Rhuengeri - Our gorilla trek is the highlight of the trip and takes us deep into the Virunga Mountains to spot the rare Mountain Gorilla. Our guides will track their spoor and last movements to find them and we'll have the chance to sit and interact with these amazing creatures; a truly unforgettable experience. Day 25-28, Kigali - Lake Bunyoni - Kampala - We journey via Rwanda's capital, Kigali, to the shores of Lake Bunyoni, the deepest crater lake in Africa, where you can explore the natural surrounds by bike or canoe. We return to Kampala for the final day of our amazing adventure.
