The Old Priest House - Sleeps 8+
This charming old rural property is set in Raye-sur-Authie, in the beautiful Sept Vallées, near the old Flemish town of Hésdin, two hours away from England but fifty years away in time. Close to historic Crécy, Azincourt and the WW1 Somme battlefields (further information on our website) and the coastal towns of Berck and Le Touquet. During WW2 a German Panzer division was quartered here, on their way to the the Eastern front. To this day our old house bears the initials of the troops once billeted here. Some years ago we found a large charcoal sketch of Mr Hitler hidden away in the outbuildings! The house is ideally placed for cycling (cycles for hire), fishing, golf, bird watching (see our own baby owls on the webcam) and scenic country walks, and the beautiful gardens of L'Abbé de Valloires. Language courses are available for young children (4 12, both French and Spanish), tutored by two highly experienced teachers. The gateway to the house leads into the gravel courtyard, providing parking for up to six cars. There is a spacious garden to the rear of the property where children can safely play. In the front courtyard there is a large purpose built barbecue. The house adjoins the delightful church with its rare Swiss painted glass windows and the Revolutionary dedication 'à l'Être Suprême'. Downstairs: refectory, for both relaxing and eating, with a log stove. There is a large screen TV with DVD player and DVD library, a small library and a selection of board games. Oil fired central heating provides hot water throughout the house. The kitchen has a 6 ring bottled gas cooker, a 4 ring modern electric oven, fridge freezer, toaster, kettles, hobs and grills. The downstairs bathroom has a washing machine/tumble dryer. All bathrooms have showers. First floor: 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 'La Grande Salle' with seating for 4 and sleeping 4/5. Second floor: 2 separate stairways leading to 'Le Grenier'. Effectively this is a separate apartment sleeping 5/6 with shower room and toilet, ideal as a family room.
