Le Vieux Café dates back to the 1850's and still boasts some of its original features. L'Ecurie, across the courtyard, was built on the site of an old stable block. The gites are located in Lairoux, a small village near to the bustling town of Luçon (market, restaurants, bars and supermarkets). The beaches of La Tranche and La Faute are within half hours drive and Futuroscope and Puy du Fou are approximately 40 minutes away. There is a 12m x 7m heated pool available to all guests, along with use of the games room (Xbox 360 and TV area, table tennis and football, games, toys and dressing up clothes) and extensive garden area complete with Boules pitch.

The surrounding area is rural and quite hilly suitable for ramblers but not the unfit or disabled. Ideal for a family of four. There are local bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Supermarkets well sign posted in Fontenay. La Rochelle, Ile de Re and La Tranche (seaside town large beaches) are within 60/90 minutes drive.
