Recreating the elegant style of a bygone era, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train is rich in opulence and glamour. First introduced at the end of the 18th century, the carriages are now fitted with 1920's décor, with polished brass and wooden marquetry. The comfortable compartments feature a sofa and small table, a wash basin, luggage rack and electrical sockets. Each compartment is attended to by a personal steward, beckoned at any hour by the ring of a bell. The bar car with resident pianist and meticulously-restored dining cars set the atmosphere in which to enjoy a gourmet menu prepared by skilled French chefs.

(L, D) Day 2 To Venice: Awaken this morning to magnificent views of the Swiss Alps and have a delicious continental breakfast served in the privacy of your cabin.
