Malta The weather on the island of Malta is warm all year. July to September are the hottest months, yet the presence of cool sea breezes provide some welcome relief. Rain, when it does fall, is often in short, sharp spells and generally only in the winter months. VALLETTA Slovakia Slovakia lies in a moderate zone and posses a continental climate, with four distinct seasons. The mildest area is along the coast of the Black Sea. Temperatures in the Carpathian mountains can fall very low in winter. The Crimean peninsula has mild winters and a sunny summer climate, although rain falls all year round. KIEV Russia The weather in Russia varies from cold Arctic conditions to hot desert and subtropical lands, where tea and rice are grown. Moscow and St Petersburg, in Northern European Russia, have some of the country's most variable weather, both in summer and winter. The climate of Kamchatka is varied and quite unstable. The ocean shore areas of the peninsula have a maritime climate, whereas the central and northern regions are more continental.
