(B, L, D) Day 12 To New Tinggri: Drive to New Tinggri and stay 2 nights at the Qomolangma Shegar Guesthouse. (B, L, D) Day 13 New Tinggri: Day trip to Everest Base Camp. (B, L, D) Day 14 To Zhangmu: Drive to the border town of Zhangmu. Overnight at the Zhangmu Hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 1 To Beijing: Fly overnight to Beijing with British Airways. (N) Day 2 Beijing: Morning arrival and transfer to the Novotel Peace Hotel for 2 nights. Afternoon tour of the Forbidden City. (N) Day 3 Great Wall: Full day tour of the Great Wall of China and the Ming Tombs. (B, L) Day 4 To Lhasa: This morning, take a flight to Lhasa. Transfer to the Hotel Lhasa for 4 nights. Afternoon at leisure to acclimatise. (B, L, D) Day 5 Lhasa: Morning visit to Drepung and Norbulingka, former summer palace of the Dalai Lama. Afternoon visit to Jokhang, the spiritual centre of Tibet, and Barkhor market. (B, L, D)
Day 6 Lhasa: Visits to the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, Chagpo Ri and Sera Monastery. (B, L, D) Day 7 Lhasa: Drive to Ganden Monastery, the oldest Gelukpa monastery. (B, L, D) Day 8 To Gyantse: Morning drive to Gyantse via Lake Yamdrok-Yamtso. Stay 2 nights at the Gyantse Hotel. (B, L, D) Day 9 Gyantse: Morning visit to Gyantse Kumbum and Palkhor Chode Monastery. Afternoon at leisure. (B, L, D) Day 10 To Shigatse: Morning drive to Shigatse. Stay 2 nights at the Shigatse Hotel. Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, former seat of the Panchen Lama, and

Discovery Tour: This tour includes some long drives, often on bumpy roads. Tibet is at a high altitude and anyone with a relevant medical condition, or any medical concerns, should obtain clearance from his or her GP before travelling. The hotels outside Lhasa are simple.
