Tour + Beijing
Available with all Japan tours Just a short flight from Japan lie some of China's greatest cultural treasures. This extension offers the chance to explore the Chinese capital, which has a fascinating heritage and is now rapidly modernising. Day 1 To Beijing*: Fly to Beijing with JAL / Air China. Transfer to the Peninsula Palace Hotel, close to Tiananmen Square, for 3 nights. Afternoon tour to the Forbidden City and Beijing's hutongs. (B) Day 2 Great Wall: Full day tour to the Great Wall
Summer Palace, Beijing
and the Ming Tombs. (B, L) Day 3 Beijing: Morning visit to Tiantan Park and the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of Ming architecture. Afternoon visit to the Summer Palace on the edge of Kunming Lake. (B, L) Day 4 To London: Transfer to the airport and fly to London with Air China. Alternatively, stay in Beijing for an extra night and fly on British Airways. Available with all Japan tours This extension to Langkawi in Malaysia offers the chance to relax in a luxurious beach resort in the island-dotted waters of the Andaman Sea. Please refer to page 68 for more details on the Tanjung Rhu Resort. Day 1 To Langkawi*: Fly to Langkawi via Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia Airlines. Transfer to the Tanjung Rhu for four nights. (B) Days 2-4 Langkawi: At leisure to relax at the hotel, enjoy water sports or take jungle walks. (B) Day 5 To London: Fly from Langkawi to London with Malaysia Airlines. Tanjung Rhu
Tour + Mount Koya
Available with Japan's Cultural Treasures and Essential Japan This extension offers a unique cultural experience, with a stay in a mountain-top Buddhist temple at Koyasan, set in tranquil woodland on the pretty Kii peninsula. There is the chance to enjoy fresh vegetarian food, see the monks at worship and attend morning prayers. Day 10 To Koyasan*: This morning, the bulk of your luggage will be delivered to the hotel in Osaka an overnight bag is required. Take the trains and cable car via Osaka to Mount Koya. Stay at a Shukubo (Temple Inn) for one night. The Shingon Buddhist temples and monasteries date from 816. your shukubo. (B, D) Day 11 To Osaka: Morning prayer ceremony and time to relax in the peaceful surroundings. In the late afternoon, descend the mountain and take the train to Namba. Take a short walk to the Swissotel Nankai Osaka for one night. (B) Day 12 To London: Take the train to Kansai airport and fly to London with JAL.
