Day 1 To Bangkok: Overnight flight from London to Bangkok with Thai Airways. (N) Day 2 Bangkok: Arrive and transfer to the Sukhothai Hotel for 2 nights. (N) Day 3 Bangkok: Full day city tour including the fascinating Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho and the National Museum. (B, L) Day 4 River Cruise: This morning board the Manhora in downtown Bangkok for a 3 day / 2 night cruise on the Chao Phraya River with gourmet cuisine. The Mahora is a luxuriously converted rice barge with four air-conditioned state rooms decorated in teak woods, Thai fabrics and Oriental carpets. Facilites on board include a spacious lounge bar and dining area, and a sun deck. Today visit Wat Arun and the Royal Barges National Museum before cruising upstream towards Ayutthaya. lavish palaces of the former royal capital of Siam. (B, L, D) Day 6 To Bangkok: Today visit Wat Nivat, Bang Pa In Summer Palace and Bang Sai village. Cruise back towards Bangkok this afternoon and disembark. Stay 1 night at the Sukhothai. (B, L) Day 7 To Sukhothai: Fly to Sukhothai. Capital of the Thai kingdom in the 13th century, the city has intricate Buddhist stonework and beautiful temples. Afternoon tour of the Sukhothai Historical Park. Continue by road to Chiang Mai and stay 2 nights at the Chedi Chiang Mai. (B, L) Day 8 Chiang Mai: Travel into the hills and jungle around Chiang Mai and take an elephant-back safari to Lisu hill tribe village. Afternoon gentle bamboo rafting on the Ping River and visit an orchid farm. (B, L) Day 9 To Chiang Mai: Depart north by road for Chiang Rai and visit the Chiang Dow monastery

and cave shrines. Continue into the hills for a panoramic view at Wat Tha Ton, and visit the tribal villages of A-Kha and Pa-Dong before arriving in Chiang Rai. Stay 2 nights at the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort and Spa. (B, L) Day 10 Golden Triangle: Full day Golden Triangle tour. See the confluence of the Ruak and Mekong rivers, where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. Take a boat ride on the Mekong and visit Chiang Saen, the former capital of the first Thai Lanna Kingdom. (B, L) Day 11 To London: Transfer to the airport for an evening flight to London with Thai Airways. Alternatively finish your trip with a relaxing stay at one of Thailand's many excellent beach hotels. (B) Day 12 London: Early morning arrival.
