Tour + Shimla
13 Days / 11 Nights from £1,690 Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh to the north of Delhi, was the British summer capital during the Raj era. The town, set in the Himalayan foothills against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks, remains a cool retreat from the heat of the northern plains. There are still beautiful promenades and graceful colonial buildings, including the famous Cecil Hotel. The surrounding countryside includes evergreen forests, which are the setting for Oberoi's luxurious Wildflower Hall Hotel, former home of Lord Kitchener.
Train to Shimla
Day 9 To Shimla: Take the train to Kalka and join the narrow gauge section to Shimla. Stay at the Oberoi Cecil Hotel / Wildflower Hall* for 3 nights. (B) Days 10-11 Shimla: At leisure. (B) Day 12 To Delhi: Drive to Chandigarh and fly to Delhi. Stay at the Radisson / Grand Hotel for one night. (B) Day 13 London: Fly to London with Jet Airways. 13 Days / 11 Nights from £1,620 The Kathmandu Valley has magnificent views of the Himalayan ranges and offers a rich cultural heritage. Day 9 To Kathmandu: Fly from Delhi to Kathmandu. Transfer to the Soaltee Crowne Plaza / Dwarikas Hotel* for two nights. Afternoon tour of Kathmandu, including Durbar Square and Swayambunath. (B) Day 10 Kathmandu: Morning at leisure, or take an optional mountain flight to see Mt. Everest (weather permitting). Afternoon visit to Bodhnath. Continue to the eastern bank of the Bagmati River for a view of Pashupatinath Temple. (B) Day 11 To Dhulikhel: Transfer to Bhaktapur, Nepal's most traditional medieval city. During your stay, day trips may be taken to the museums and markets of Jaipur, or time can be spent exploring the village of Samode and its fort. Set 376 steps up a mountain beside the Palace, Samode Fort enjoys a magnificent setting with sweeping views across the valley. (B) Day 10 To Delhi: Morning at leisure.
