13 Days / 11 Nights from £2,095 Private Journey · Chauffeur-Driven Tour · Small Character Hotels · Relaxed Pace This private journey travels through tropical Kerala at a relaxed pace, visiting plantations, sandy beaches, the historic port city of Cochin and the tranquil backwaters a maze of canals and waterways. Accommodation is in small properties that have been especially chosen for their character and standards of service.
Day 1 To Cochin: Fly to Cochin, via Dubai, with Emirates. (N) Day 2 Cochin: Arrive in Cochin and transfer to the Malabar House Residency for 2 nights. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Cochin, including Jewtown and St. Francis Church, built in 1503 by the Portuguese Admiral Albuquerque. (N) Day 3 Cochin: Morning cruise around Cochin harbour and see the famous Chinese fishing nets. Afternoon at leisure, or take an optional excursion to the Mattancherry Palace. Evening Kathakali dance performance. (B) Day 4 To Munnar: Drive to Munnar, set amongst rolling tea-clad hills and rainforest at an altitude of 1,600 metres. Stay for 2 nights at the Windermere Munnar. (B) Day 5 Munnar: Morning guided walk through the soaring virgin forests of the 60 acre estate to see cardamom cultivation and processing. Afternoon at leisure. (B) Day 6 To Kanam Estate: Morning drive through rice paddies to Kanam Estate, located in the foothills of the Cardamom Hills. This afternoon is at leisure to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Optional elephant rides can be arranged to visit some of the surrounding plantations. Guests can spend the afternoon with the elephant and his mahout, helping out with feeding and bath time. Stay for 2 nights at Kanam Estate. (B, L, D) Day 7 Kanam Estate: Morning guided walk through the estate's plantations. This afternoon is at leisure.
