Shackleton's Antarctica
22 Days / 18 Nights from £4,995 This itinerary encompasses the highlights of the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, retracing the route of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Voyage of Endurance. Take in the remarkable wildlife in the Falklands, Shackleton's grave on South Georgia, Grytviken Whaling Station and the amazing scenery and wildlife of Antarctica, before returning past Cape Horn Day 1: Fly to Buenos Aires, via Madrid, with Iberia. (N) Day 2: Morning arrival. Stay 1 night in Buenos Aires. (N) Day 3: Fly to Puerto Madryn. Transfer to M/S NordNorge and sail down the coast of Argentina. (B, L, D) Days 4-6: Sail to the Falkland Islands, with lectures on the islands' wildlife and history. (B, L, D) Days 7-8: Arrive in the Falklands, and spend 2 days exploring. M/S Nordnorge
The M/S NordNorge has capacity for 350 passengers, with spacious deck areas, panoramic lounges, a bar and restaurant, all designed in a modern, art deco style. Cabins have twin beds, with one bed that can be turned into a sofa, and private bathrooms with hot showers. Cabins on the lower decks have large portholes; the upper deck cabins feature picture windows.
Antarctic Polar Quest
18 Days / 15 Nights from £4,950 This voyage offers an adventure beyond the boundaries of the Polar Circle. Travel onboard M/S Fram, a new ship specially designed to travel through the ice-packed waters of the Southern Ocean. Explore the krill rich seas and spectacular landscapes around Marguerite Bay, where minke whale, orca and leopard seal may be seen. This is a region of rare and spectacular panoramas, which offers an insight into the history of polar research. Day 1: Fly to Buenos Aires, via Madrid, with Iberia. (N) Day 2: Morning arrival. 2 nights Buenos Aires. (N) Day 3: At leisure. (N) Day 4: Fly to Ushuaia and embark the M/S Fram to sail south. (B) Days 5-6: Cross the Drake Passage, with on board lectures and ample opportunities for spotting wildlife, particularly albatross. (B, L, D) Day 7: Arrival in Antarctica. (N) The M/S Fram was named after Roald Amundsen's ship, and several artefacts from the original Fram are on board.
