The Natural Splendour of Costa Rica Extensions Tour + Corcovado 15 Days / 13 Nights from £2,345 Corcovado National Park is a lowland rainforest described by National Geographic as "the most biologically intense place on earth". The park is a habitat for 140 species of mammals, 367 species of birds including toucans and scarlet macaws, and 177 species of amphibians and reptiles. Day 10 To Corcovado: Morning flight to Palmar Sur. Transfer by road to Sierpe and take a boat to the Casa Corcovado Lodge for 3 nights. Located next to the park, this lodge has beautifully decorated bungalows, a restaurant, pool and nearby beach. Tour + Tamarindo 15 Days / 13 Nights from £1,975 Tamarindo is situated in Guanacaste on the Pacific coast. This area offers an abundance of white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and the nearby national parks of Rincon de la Vieja and the Buena Vista Rainforest. From December to April, you may see leatherback sea turtles laying their eggs on the beach. Day 9 To Tamarindo: Drive to Tamarindo (approx. three hours). Transfer to the Cala Luna Hotel for 4 nights. Located on Tamarindo Beach, the hotel has 22 rooms with terrace or balcony. (B) Costa Rica's Pacific coast Days 10-12 Tamarindo: At leisure or optional excursions. It is possible to take a boat tour to the mangrove swamps of Baula National Park with its populations of monkey, caiman and tropical birds. (B) Day 13 To San José: Morning transfer to Tamarindo and fly to San José. Transfer to the Melia Cariari Hotel for 1 night. A great place for hiking, the park is relatively small but has a remarkable diversity of wildlife, and the rainforest stretches down to the beaches. It is possible to see a surprising concentration of wildlife here, including monkeys, sloths, armadillos, raccoons and birds. Day 9 To Manuel Antonio: Drive from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio (five hours). Stay at El Parador for 4 nights. El Parador is located in a densely forested peninsula, and offers panoramic views of the ocean, beach and jungle. There are 80 well-equipped rooms with balconies, a restaurant, two lounges, a wine cellar, pool, jacuzzi, health spa, Capuchin monkeys, Manuel Antonio tennis court and library.
