MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR HOLIDAY DFDS Seaways has endeavoured to include all the information needed to help you make your holiday selection within this brochure. However, should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly Customer Sales and Service staff, or the appropriate tourist board. When you book your holiday with DFDS Seaways you will receive your confirmation invoice and terms and conditions along with: I Road directions to your accommodation with a country map. I Local attractions and a list of leisure facilities (if visiting a holiday centre). I Destination fact sheet. I A GB sticker for your car... as well as other useful information. WHAT YOUR HOLIDAY PRICE INCLUDES Prices for all the accommodation in this brochure are shown on the relevant holiday pages. Youll also find what is included in the holiday price in these panels unless otherwise stated, electricity, water etc is paid directly to the supplier. At the time of going to print (Sep 07) a £4 per person fuel surcharge applied, therefore this is included in all featured prices, however this is subject to change. YOUR SHIP CROSSING Our holiday prices include carriage of one standard sized car (excluding Hurtigruten Voyages) and a berth in an en suite cabin (class and size are specified on individual price panels). Alternative cabin accommodation can be booked for a supplement or reduction (please enquire at time of booking). Please note that 2, 3 and 4-berth cabins usually contain both lower and upper berths, and the upper berths may not be suitable for elderly or infirm persons. Should you wish to use different sea routes on your outward and homeward journeys then this is possible (subject to sailing schedule and supplements). All cabins and many areas of the ships are non-smoking. YOUR CAR Return car reservations are automatically made on North Sea crossings on all holidays (excluding Hurtigruten Voyages) in this brochure. On all DFDS Seaways crossings, cars over 1.85m in height will be charged a supplement per vehicle return. There is an additional charge per metre for motorised caravans, towed caravans and trailers and details can be given on request. Please note that on many routes there is limited availability of caravan/trailer space in June, July and August, so book early to avoid disappointment. Your holiday package includes one car per booking - additional cars will be subject to an extra charge. INTERNAL FERRIES/TOLL BRIDGES Internal ferries within Scandinavia and Northern Europe are not included on any holidays in this brochure. If internal ferries are required, details are available on request. Toll bridge prices are not included and cannot be paid for in advance. Should you wish to know the costs in advance, please contact the relevant tourist boards. BED LINEN/TOWELS Where bed linen/towels are included, one set per person will be supplied. There may be a charge for additional sets if required. Where bed linen/towels are not supplied, please ensure you take these items with you. DEPOSITS Most self-catering centres require a returnable deposit against breakages, normally £30-50 per family. FACILITIES AT HOLIDAY CENTRES Please note that although listed on the HOLIDAY SEASON As the holiday season in Scandinavia is shorter than in the UK, certain tourist facilities and attractions both at self-catering centres and in the surrounding area may close earlier in the year, even in August. This is especially the case in Norway. Details will be supplied with your travel documents but if information is required earlier, please call our Customer Sales and Services department for details. PET TRAVEL SCHEME Cats and dogs can currently be carried on our Newcastle to Amsterdam route. Please ask at time of booking. FIRST NIGHT RESERVATIONS Please consider the arrival time of your ship and the distances to hotels when choosing where to stay on your first night. The same applies on your final night, especially if you are booked on an early homeward sailing. Our Customer Sales and Service staff will be pleased to advise you further. SAILING INFORMATION LINE Call our Sailing Information Line for up-to-date recorded information on arrival and departure times, or give the number to those who may be meeting you, in case of delays. The number is: 0871 882 1777 PASSPORTS & VISAS A valid United Kingdom or EU passport is accepted in all the countries featured within this brochure. Holders of other passports should contact the relevant Embassy to confirm which travel documents are required. CURRENCY When purchasing your foreign currency, please note that the Euro is not accepted in Scandinavia. Please ensure you have the correct currency for your holiday. CURRENCY EXCHANGE RATES Money can be exchanged onboard ship at the rates as displayed onboard. DFDS Seaways ships accept both £ Sterling and currency of the destination country. Please note there are no ATMs available on board. OUR NORWEGIAN SERVICE Due to Immigration controls, guests must disembark immediately on arrival in Bergen. On certain sailings, some guests staying onboard in port overnight will also need to disembark again early the next morning. Please also note that the turn-around times at the various ports of call on this service are short. In exceptional circumstances guests who are due to leave the ship may be asked to vacate their cabin, with their luggage, shortly before arrival in their destination port to facilitate cleaning (excl Commodore guests). Luggage storage may be arranged by contacting the Guest Service Centre on board ship who will also make a broadcast at the appropriate time. MEDICAL TREATMENT Britain has reciprocal arrangements with Scandinavia, Holland and Belgium regarding medical treatment. European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). It is therefore advisable to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) prior to travel (www.dh.gov.uk). Vaccinations are not required and tap water is safe to drink. BONDING DFDS Seaways is a member of the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA) and as such is a member of the PSAs Consumer Protection Scheme under which its inclusive holiday programme is bonded. DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 Information provided by you to us in connection with your booking(s) will be held by DFDS Seaways, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. It will be used for reservations, bookings, ticket issue and marketing. You may have a copy of the personal information held about you by writing to our registered address: DFDS Seaways, Nordic House, Western Access Road, Immingham Dock, Immingham, N E Lincolnshire DN40 2LZ. DFDS Seaways reserve the right to make a charge for supplying you with this information, which at the time of printing this brochure is £10. CATEGORISATION All holidays in this brochure have been carefully selected by DFDS Seaways and comply with our strict quality requirements. As most countries featured within this brochure do not have their own official classification system we have introduced our own rating system to assist you in making your choice. TERMS & CONDITIONS Your booking will be subject to important General Booking Terms and Conditions AND Conditions of Carriage which we have not reproduced in this brochure. There may be an extra charge for facilities such as tennis courts, bicycle hire and mini-golf, etc. In some cases, even the swimming pool is subject to cost for guests and outside visitors alike. Please note that TVs with satellite and/or cable channels may only feature foreign stations. Full details will be supplied with your travel documentation or earlier upon request. Facilities mentioned may be subject to change. FACILITIES FOR THE DISABLED Port and Onboard It is recommended that the nature of any disability be discussed with our Customer Sales and Service Staff who can advise on the suitability of travel. Passengers who require any form of assistance on board must be accompanied by a companion who will be responsible for the disabled passenger at all times. Limited assistance can be offered at the port if required. Please ask on arrival for assistance. Accommodation Some of the accommodations featured in this brochure cater for disabled guests and wheelchairs. We recommend that clients with special needs call our Customer Sales and Service Staff who will give full details of the facilities available in your chosen centre. HOLIDAY EXTENSIONS All holidays can be extended and the charges for extra days or weeks are available on request. Holiday extensions may also be made without accommodation through DFDS Seaways, if you would prefer to make your own arrangements. Requests for extensions must be made at the time of booking. INFANTS Infants under 4 years of age not requiring a separate berth travel free on North Sea crossings. We are unable to provide cots on board ship. Please discuss at time of booking. Requests for cots at your accommodation should be made at the time of booking. Any charges made by holiday centres (ie for cots or any other facilities) must be paid directly to them. If an infant requires a separate berth on board ship or a hotel bed, he/she will be booked and charged at the child rate. If travelling to Holland, please also see Accommodation Capacity section. ACCOMMODATION CAPACITY Please note that fire regulations at holiday centres/self-catering accommodation in Holland may mean that the maximum number of persons occupying one unit must match the total number of people travelling, including infants. Each person travelling, regardless of age, requires a bed, therefore it may be necessary to book the larger accommodation type, often at a supplement. Also, in the Netherlands, infants aged three years are required by law to be classed as a child and must have their own bed. In these cases, the child prices at the hotel must be paid.
