is this trip for me?
A tough trip for the more adventurous traveller. An unbelievable experience but do not expect great facilities. Remote desert crossing, oasis settlements, away from mainstream civilisation. Stunning landscapes, camel trek and the civilisation of the Moorish nomads of Mauritania. Tarmac and desert piste, expect to have to help get our 4 by 4 truck through massive dunefields. Rating: Extreme. Crew: 2 crew, local guides as necessary Vehicle: Classic Dragoman truck (4 wheel drive) Accommodation: 100% camping, Half of the nights will be wild camping in the desert and half at campsites.

Night 1-3: Preparation & Beginnings: · R&R and civilisation time in Nouakchott · Overnight stay at the stunning remote Saharan oasis of Terjit Nights 4-6: The Ksours & Dunefields: · 2 night stay at the ancient Ksours of Chinguetti with camel trip into the surrounding dunefields · If time journey to the Ksour of Ouidane and exploration to find meteoric crater Nights 7-11: Desert Exploration: · 5 day desert crossing via Atar, the ore town of Choum and driving alongside the railway to Nouadibou (exploratory for 2007, may not be feasible and we may take a different route to Nouadibou) Nights 12-13: Nouadibou: · 2 day recuperation in the Atlantic Port of Nouadibou Nights 14-16: The Final Desert Crossing: · 3 day trip along the Atlantic beaches where the desert meets the ocean · Return to civilisation in Noakchott

Unbelievable cultural and musical journey. Fast action packed journey with trekking, two of the greatest gigs in the world, an amazing boat trip but few home comforts. Not for the faint hearted but definitely for the lover of African music. Itinerary may vary but you won't be bored. Rating: Challenging. Crew: 2 crew, local guides as necessary. Vehicle: Classic Dragoman truck. Accommodation: 100% camping. Campsites and wildcamps. Camping at the festival is like Glastonbury on a very hot day surrounded by Tuaregs and camels.

is this trip for me?
There are few roads, no western facilities and no luxuries. The itinerary will be flexible, nightstops will be when we decide to camp. Hard trip for the most adventurous. During current hostilities in Western Darfur, we have a contingency route so that this trip can be taken as part of a combination, PLEASE contact Dragoman. Rating: Extreme. Crew: 2 crew, local guides as necessary. Vehicle: Classic Dragoman truck. Accommodation: 85% camping, 15% hotels. Wildcamps with a few hotels. Accommodation very basic.

· En route visits to trading towns of Nyala, El Obeid and possibly El Fasher Nights 22-24: The Nile Valley: · 2 or 3 night stay in Khartoum for well earned R&R · Khartoum & the confluence of the Niles · Witness the spectacular and totally bizarre Omdurman Whirling Dervishes Note; At the time of writing, this trip cannot be booked on its own. If you wish to include this section as part of an trans Africa Ultimate Overland, we do have a contingency in place that involves flying between Douala and Cairo and then travelling on the NEE trip.
