This trek is included in all our trips that visit Cusco. We believe passionately in giving the best possiblle experience and lessening the impact on the environment. Hence our decision to introduce this new project. If you would prefer to hike the Classic Inca Trail, (details below), you will be refunded the cost of this trek from kitty to put towards the cost of the Classic Inca Trail. is this trek for me?
3 days of tough and medium trekking on isolated unspoilt mountain paths and stone Inca trails. Two high passes (up to approx. 4800 metres) and three isolated valleys and an ancient Inca outpost. Trek developed for Dragoman in conjunction with the Quechua communities. Visiting two local Quechua communities. Rating: Challenging. Crew: 1 Dragoman crew and local guides, cooks, llama pilots. Local operator has a clear Responsible Tourism policy on use of guides, porters and pack animals and pay above the norm to ensure fair trade. Vehicle: Minibus, train, llamas, your two flat feet. Accommodation: 90% camping, 10% hotels. Camping either with local communities or wildcamps. One night hostel in Ollantaytambo.

Nights 1-4: Classic Inca Trail: · Tour of the Sacred Valley, Sacsayhuaman, Pisac and Ollantaytambo · Visit Pisac Market and lunch in Pisac · 3 day trek up the Inca Trail, ending at the Sun Gate over Machu Picchu · Guided tour of Machu Picchu · All guides, porters, accommodation, all camp food and transport to/from Cusco Notes: You can only book this trip in conjunction with one of our main Dragoman Overland trips. A sucessful booking will depend on obtaining a permit. April to August is the peak season and advance booking is highly recommended as permits are limited. Once your Classic Inca Trail permit has been confirmed the trek will be 100% non-refundable. The Classic Inca Trail is usually closed for the month of February for maintenance.

Moderate to tough 3 day trek along traditional Inca trails to Machu Picchu, 3 high passes up to 4200 metres (including Dead Women's pass), Inca ruins and Inca pathways with many steep steps. Expect to meet numerous other groups. Rating: Challenging. Crew: Guides, porters and cooks. Local operator has a clear Responsible Tourism policy on use of guides, porters and pay above the norm to ensure fair trade. Vehicle: Minibus, train, your two flat feet. Accommodation: 90% camping, 10% hotels. 3 nights camping in official campsites along the trail. One night hostel in Ollantaytambo.
