"Descending by mountain bike from the Zavizan mountain hut on a cool clear summer morning, torn between staying safe on the bike and absorbing the views of the surrounding Velebit mountains, was a memorable moment." denis halpin - exodus client

roatia is understandably famous for its islands and beaches, but by comparison its mountains are less well known. this spectacular karst environment is the perfect place for mountain biking. our ride starts in Plitvice lakes national Park, a UnesCo world heritage site since 1979. the sixteen lakes are renowned for their distinctive colours, ranging from azure to green, grey or blue depending on the minerals in the water and the angle of sunlight. From here we head deep into the Velebit national Park, named after Croatia's largest mountain range. our point-to-point route has plenty of challenging climbs and excellent descents, but isn't overly technical. we spend a night in the Zavizan mountain hut and visit a botanical reserve, famous for its outstanding collection of mountain flora. But no trip to Croatia is complete without some time on the coast, so our final ride takes place on the stunning dalmatian island of Pag. the island is dry and relatively barren and is known for its great beaches, so a refreshing post ride swim will be hard to resist.
