What about the Bikes? Perhaps the most important element of any Exodus cycling holiday is the bike itself. Youll need an appropriate bike to ensure you get the most from your experience. Choose from the three bike options below. BIKE OPTIONS 1. Hire locally in your destination Specialized bikes or other well-known brands are available in the destination country on all tours. Occasionally numbers are limited and late bookers may need to bring a bike from the UK. Prices and models are shown on each trip page and payment is made on booking. Prices range from: £40 to £140 per week. ESSENTIAL INFORMATION Accommodation Accommodation varies from four star hotels with pools, to wild camping on the Mongolian Steppes. While luxury is not our aim, where possible we use comfortable tourist class accommodation. In more remote places like Tibet, conditions will be a little more basic. All our group holidays operate on a twin share basis, meaning that single travellers do not have to pay a single supplement, provided they are happy to share with another group member of the same sex. 2. Hire from Exodus in the UK If a suitable bike isnt available for hire locally, we have Specialized bikes available for hire from the UK. We will arrange for you to pick up and drop off the bike at the UK airport. Our UK hire fleet are all Specialized Rockhopper 'Comp' mountain bikes with 27 gears, front suspension, V-brakes and fitted with road or off-road tyres as required. Prices are as follows: " Up to 9 days: £95 " 10 17 days: £125 " 18 days and over: £145 If hiring a bike, feel free to bring your own saddle and/or pedals. Please read bike hire conditions on page 56. Clothing & equipment You should bring your own helmet and cycling gloves on all trips. These are compulsory safety equipment for off road trips with Exodus, and are strongly recommended for all our road trips too. Comfortable loose clothing is ideal and is more culturally appropriate than tight lycra in many countries. If youre going to buy one item, we suggest a pair of padded shorts or cycling specific underwear, to help ensure your comfort in the saddle. 3. Take your own bike It is quite easy to fly with a bike, and airlines rarely charge you extra (as long as you are within the total baggage allowance). Obviously if you are bringing your own bike, you need to know what is appropriate for the trip you are booking on. For road trips: hybrids, tourers or mountain bikes with slick tyres are suitable. Thin-tyred racing bikes are only suitable for our MWF trip on page 41. For off-road trips: Hardtail mountain bikes with front suspension, or full suspension bikes for some of the tougher mountain bike trips. 8 Local payments now included in the price
