100 Sub-Saharan Africa I Multiple Destinations Boys on beach at Lake Malawi Heart of Africa Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana & South Africa 24 days A fantastic three and a half week journey through the heart of Africa From Dar-es-Salaam we travel to Zanzibar for three days exploring the island and relaxing on the beautiful beaches. Leaving Dar again we travel south through Mikumi National Park and on towards Malawi. After a relaxing night by the lake, we travel up the Rift Valley to explore the Viphya Mountains at Luwawa. Crossing into Zambia we visit the fabulous South Luangwa National Park before arriving in Livingstone, where the mighty Zambezi River cascades over the Victoria Falls. From here we continue into Botswana visiting Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta before our journey ends in Johannesburg. TRIP DETAILS Itinerary: Day 1 Depart London. 2 Arrive Dar-es-Salaam, transfer to Zanzibar by ferry. Explore Stone Town. 3 Optional Spice Tour; drive to beach accommodation at Nungwi. 4 Free day for optional activites. 5 Return to Dar-esSalaam. 6 Long drive through Southern Tanzania, including Mikumi N.P. 7 To Tukuyu at the top of the Kipengere Mountains; optional tea plantation tour. 8 Drive into Malawi and camp beside the lake. 9 Head south along Lake Malawi before driving up the Rift Valley; continue to the Viphya Mountains. 10 Free day for walking, canoeing, mountain biking and visiting waterfalls. 11 Drive into Zambia and the beautiful South Luangwa N.P. 12 Morning and evening game drive/walk and optional village visit. 13 To Chipata and along the Great East Road. 14 Continue to Lusaka. 15 To Livingstone; visit the Victoria Falls. Optional sunset cruise. 16 Free day in Livingstone for optional activities. 17 Free morning. To Botswana and Chobe N.P; afternoon cruise. 18 Drive to Maun via Nata, passing Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans. 19 Drive into Okavango Delta by 4WD and mokoro (dug-out canoe). 20 Game walks and mokoro ride; return to Maun. Optional scenic flight over delta. 21 Drive Trans-Kalahari Highway; camp in the Kalahari Desert. 22 Arrive Johannesburg. 23 Free day for exploring or optional township tour.
