Oceania I Papua New Guinea & Australia
Papua New Guinea Paradise
Papua New Guinea 17 days
All of Oz
Australia 69 days
Unexplored jungle, superb coral reefs, misty highlands and smoking volcanoes, plus a unique range of tribal peoples Papua New Guinea has it all; the scenery is as diverse as it is majestic. The Sepik River is reminiscent of the Amazon with its huge jungle while the Highland region is a mixture of crisp mornings, beautiful sunsets and vibrant wildlife, including the fabulous Birds of Paradise. Culturally it is one of the most extraordinary places on earth as the range of distinct languages (over 850!) and as many tribal groups is scarcely believable. As colourful and exotic as many of their names suggest Huli wigmen, Asaro mud men many of these people groups have only come into contact with the West in the past 50 years and remain refreshingly traditional in their outlook. New Britain Province; to Rapopo Plantation Resort. 13 Full day tour of volcanoes, Rabaul town and some World War II sites. 14 Free day for diving, fishing or island cruise (all optional). 15 Fly to Port Moresby; afternoon free. 16 Fly to Singapore; depart evening. 17 Arrive London. Profile: travel by minibus, boat and several internal flights. Grade: moderate. Group: min. 8, max. 16, plus leader and appropriate local staff. Min. age 16. From the Bungle Bungles to the Blue Mountains, Melbourne to Monkey Mia, Australia is a land of endless fascination Two months in one country too long? Think again - with such a varied and fascinating destination, we may find it isn't long enough. This circuit of Australia takes us from trendy cities to outback cattle stations, from the reef to the rainforest and from surf beaches to billabongs. Australia's iconic sights need no introduction, but the lesser-known sights are frequently just as spectacular. With unforgettable experiences such as a close encounter with dolphins, walking with aborigines and experiencing life on a cattle station, this could be described as a life-changing trip.
