An exciting but undemanding active holiday, based in an attractive wilderness camp in Arctic Finland Basecamp Oulanka, our 'wilderness camp', is a lovely complex of wooden buildings providing comfortable and cosy accommodation in a stunning location overlooking a lake. During the stay we include a varied programme of activities including dogsledding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Free time can be spent using the cross-country skis or snowshoe equipment available at the lodge, or in the sauna and hot-tub. The ski resort of Ruka is a 20 minute taxi ride away - for a night out, snowmobile safari or a day of downhill skiing (all optional). Optional activities include iceclimbing, further dogsledding or snowmobiling and downhill skiing at Ruka. 8 Short snowshoe walk. Transfer to Kuusamo, fly to London. Profile: an exciting mixed activity week, with free time for independent activities. None of the activities require previous experience. Grade: moderate. Group: min. 6, max. 16 plus local guides and instructors. Min. age 16. Accommodation: 7 nights lodge. Food: all breakfasts and dinners included.
Optional winter activities from the comfort of a private cabin set in the the stunning surrounds of West Lapland On the edge of the Pallas-Ounas National Park, the Hotel Jeris is the perfect location for an active winter holiday. Experience an exciting range of activities, including Husky safaris, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Explore the wilderness on cross-country skis or for downhill skiers, the small ski resort of Olos is close by. After an active day outdoors, try a traditional sauna and exhilarating dip in the icy lake. Overnight in an Igloo: AF9 - Cost: Midweek k147/Last night k132 (based on 2 per room) Profile: Recommended for those who enjoy independence and freedom to do their own thing. Grade: ungraded as depends on activities chosen. Group: not a group holiday; no tour leader. Each activity has its own minimum age requirement (see Trip Notes). Please indicate to us in advance which activities you plan to take. On arrival you will be asked to pay for the activities you have prebooked. Your schedule will be confirmed on arrival. Itinerary: Day 1 Fly to Kittila. 2/7 Six days of winter activities; please choose from the list below. All costs are per person. 8 Fly to London. Husky Safari: 2 persons per sled. AF1 - 9 km/1 hour Cost: k60 AF2 - 17km/2 hours Cost: k130 AF3 - Full day/5 hours Cost: k220 (1 person per sled). Snowmobile Safari: drivers require normal UK driving licence. AF4 - 30km/2 hours Cost: k115 (solo use), k85 (2 drivers per machine). AF5 - 50km/3 hours Cost: k170 (solo use), k140 (2 drivers per machine). Reindeer Farm Visit & Safari: AF6 - 4-5 hours Cost: k145 Cross-Country Ski School: AF7 - 2 hours Cost: k40 Snowshoe Trip: AF8 - 2 hours Cost: k40

Itinerary: Day 1 Fly from Gatwick to Kuusamo, transfer to Basecamp Oulanka (approx 45 mins). 2 Snowshoe hike in national park; free afternoon. 3 Cross-country skiing in the morning; free afternoon. 4 Dogsledding instruction and tour (about 10 km); optional iceclimbing. 5 Free day in Ruka. Option of snowmobile safari and downhill skiing. 6 Full day igloo building in teams of four; option to spend night in the igloo. 7 Free day.
