Mont Blanc Circuit
8 days France, Switzerland & Italy 15 days
The best of the Tour du Mont Blanc in a week - all from a comfortable chalet in the Chamonix Valley The circuit of Mont Blanc is one of the finest walking routes in the Alps, a series of paths linking the seven valleys that surround the highest mountain in Western Europe. To complete the whole circuit normally takes a fortnight, but for those with less time this one-week trip takes in the most outstanding sections. We stay the entire week at the comfortable Chalet Savoy near Les Houches in the Chamonix Valley, avoiding the need to carry luggage, or pack and unpack each day. The chalet has 9 bedrooms all with private facilities, and evening meals are taken in the rustic wood-beamed dining room or in the garden with its superb mountain views. Mont de la Saxe and descend to Courmayeur. 4 Teleferique from Les Houches to Bellevue; walk over Col Tricot to Les Contamines. 5 Free day for optional walks, activities or sightseeing. 6 Drive to Col de Montets; walk via Lac Blanc to La Flegere then descend on teleferique. 7 Drive to Brevent; ascend by teleferique to midstation; walk to Les Houches via Brevent Peak. 8 Transfer to Geneva; fly to London. Profile: travel by private minibus and telepherique. 5 days centrebased walking, reasonable level of fitness required. Grade: moderate. Group: min. 2, max. 16, plus leader. Min. age 16. Accommodation: 7 nights chalet. Food: all breakfasts, 5 picnic lunches and 6 dinners included.
The classic Tour du Mont Blanc, probably the most dramatic walk in Europe The Tour du Mont Blanc links the seven valleys that surround Western Europe's highest mountain, offering an incredible variety of spectacular scenery and varied walks in a two-week holiday. The route crosses three borders (from France into Switzerland, then into Italy and back to France), climbs over six passes, traverses beneath huge glaciers, and meanders through beautiful alpine meadows and picture-book villages. Throughout the trek we are rewarded with splendid views of some of the Alps' most beautiful peaks; Mt. Blanc, Aiguille Verte, Grand Jorasses and many more. Profile: travel by private bus and on foot. 10 days point to point walking, good fitness required. Grade: moderate/challenging. Group: min. 1, max. 16, plus leader. Min. age 18. Accommodation: 14 nights camping, mostly in good campsites with hot showers, occasionally in the wild. Food: all breakfasts, 10 picnic lunches and 13 dinners included.
