Argentina & Antarctica · 14 days Polar · Antarctica Antarctica Optional Extras Sea Kayaking On many of our Antarctic voyages some members of the party can take regular sea kayak excursions in place of the Zodiac excursions. There is a limited number of kayaks on each ship, and you must book and pay for this option in advance. All kayak trips are expertly guided, and are subject to suitable locations and weather conditions. Weddell Sea & Antarctic Peninsula from £5620 Ship Only This is a remarkable adventure visiting both sides of the Peninsula. We spend three days sailing along the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, along fjords and past icebergs, enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. We hope to visit magnificent spots such as Cuverville Island, Wilhelmina Bay and Orne Harbour, before passing through the Antarctic Sound to the wild and remote east coast of the Peninsula in the Weddell Sea. The epitome of the Weddell Sea is massive tabular icebergs, and watching these imposing and majestic bergs glide silently past the ship is a remarkable experience. We will explore islands and continental shores, hoping to visit Brown Bluff, Hope Bay and Paulet Island, whose residents are Chinstrap and Adelie penguins in huge numbers. Trip Code PSJ · Operates in January and February Argentina & Antarctica · 20 days Antarctica, Falklands & South Georgia from £6360 Ship Only The journey begins sailing east to the Falklands with its large population of Rockhopper and Magellanic penguins along with Black-browed albatross. The historic side of the islands is also explored before we sail on to South Georgia, where Ernest Shackelton is buried under the spectacular ice crowned mountains. The ship threads her way through magical fjords to Salisbury Plain and Gold Harbour, wildlife havens boasting a 100,000-plus population of King penguins and chicks on their beaches. The island also supports significant populations of Elephant and Fur seals. The voyage continues to the South Orkney Islands and then enters an enchanted world of icebergs and ice-covered mountains approaching the bays and channels of the Antarctic Peninsula, home to an extraordinary array of wildlife: penguins of almost all descriptions, seals and whales. Trip Code PSG · Operates between November and January Mountaineering On some expeditions we offer a mountaineering option. This is an aweinspiring experience from the first step to the final glissade the last slide on your descent. You can expect to summit 2 or 3 small Antarctic peaks, and although no previous experience is required, you will be using crampons, harness, and an ice axe. Some technical climbing is involved. Camping on Ice Spending a night camping on ice is a unique experience we offer on some departures. No previous experience is needed to participate in our camping option. We provide the equipment: you contribute a desire for a personal and intimate connection with the continent. Cross-country Skiing On some voyages there is the chance for some members of the party to participate in cross-country skiing. It is impossible to imagine a continent better suited to cross-country skiing, the earliest method of transport used by Antarctic explorers.
