32 Iceland  Whales & Waterfalls Iceland Whales & Waterfalls Group Trip 8 Days * Natural wonders of the 'Land of Ice and Fire' * Easy glacier walking for children and adults * Cruise amongst icebergs on a glacial lagoon * Whale watching excursions included, plus the chance to see puffins and seals Magnificent Gullfoss Waterfalls E nclosed between mountains, glaciers and the sea, Iceland's southern coast provides an impressive and dramatic array of natural phenomena. This trip is a perfect combination of exciting activities and geological discovery, as we walk behind the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, tour the Solheimajokul Glacier and play in the black sands of the Myrdalssandur Desert. We visit the famous Great Geysir which has given its name to hot springs all over the world. Beside it, one of the most active geysers in the area, Strokkur, spouts up to 30 metres every few minutes. A cruise amongst the floating icebergs of the Jökulsárlon glacial lagoon and a whale watching trip will certainly be highlights of the week. There is time to relax in outdoor pools and free time in Reykjavik for optional activities such as horse riding or a visit to the Blue Lagoon. Trip Profile Flights direct with Icelandair. Accommodation 7 nights in guesthouses or cottages. Swimming we visit natural and man-made geothermal pools (entrance fees not included). Transport bus and boat. Climate: Reykjavik Temp ºC Rainy Days The Itinerary Day 1 Fly to Keflavik; transfer to guesthouse in Reykjavik. Afternoon at local geothermal swimming pool. 2 A full day excursion; visiting geothermal area of Nesjavellir and Thingvellir National Park. Walk to Oxararfoss Waterfall, see erupting geysers, hot water ponds and the thundering Gullfoss Waterfall. Relax in thermal baths in the farming village of Hella where we spend the night. 3 Morning walk around Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Optional guided tour on glacier at Solheimajokull. This takes you along the front of the glacier overlooking the black volcanic south coast. All equipment provided. Time in evening to see Skogarfoss Waterfall and visit thermal pools. Overnight in Skogar. 4 Across scenic south coast to black sandy desert of Myrdalssandur. Overnight in Horgsland. 5 Boat ride on glacial lagoon. Afternoon visit to cape to see puffins and possibly seals. Overnight in Horgsland. 6 Back to Reykjavik, stopping off at cold water spring. 7 Whale watching from Reykjavik harbour.
