wonderful opportunity for a two-week adventure on the beautiful Turquoise Coast of Turkey. From our base in Kas there's a multitude of activities to keep the whole family occupied. The first week consists of the 'Turquoise Coast Adventure' (see pages 54/55). During the second week we explore charming villages and even learn some art skills. We camp in a village deep in the Ak Dag Mountain Range and abseil at Kaputas Canyon. A relaxing day of cruising around the islands near Kas is a perfect ending.
The Centre
Oreo Hotel, Kas
Our base is the friendly Oreo Hotel, which overlooks the pretty town and bay of Kas. All rooms have en suite facilities, A/C and a balcony. There is an excellent pool area and restaurant/bar. A 10 minute walk takes us to the restaurants and harbour.
TRIP TRIVIA
The Gulet is the characteristic Turkish sailing boat, unique to being built in Bodrum, now one of the country's most popular beach destinations. Still made in the traditional way, the final piece of the hull is called the "baclava wood" and the boat is then hauled to the sea on a sledge lubricated with warmed sheep fat!
