The Activities
Sunday Caving or horse riding
Caving: morning session at the Cueva de Alba (min. age 5 years), a series of large chambers connected by walk-through passages. The afternoon session is in La Cueva de Llonin (min. age 12 years), a more adventurous cave involving crawling and a few squeezes. Both caves are dry. Duration: 2-3 hours including transport. Min. age: 5 and 12 years. Horse riding: in the foothills of the Picos. No experience is required as the riding parties can be split according to experience. Duration: 2-3 hours including transport. Min. age: 8 years.

Tuesday Cares Gorge walk (No cost, not
part of activity options) A self-guided hike up and down the dramatic Cares Gorge. The bottom of the gorge is not far from our hotel, and we walk up the spectacular chasm as far as we wish before turning back. In places the wide trail is cut into a steep cliff-face. Duration: 3-6 hours, depending on how far you choose to walk. Min. age: 5 years.
Thursday Self-guided biking or House of Honey
Biking: two routes are available leaving directly from the hotel; easy (mostly tarmac) and harder (mostly dirt track). Both routes take us through the scenic foothills of the Picos. Bike, helmet and route descriptions provided. Duration: 2-5 hours, depending on how far you choose to ride. Min. age: 8 years. House of Honey: learn how honey is produced from the flower to the packaging and how it maintains our ecosystem (lunch included). Duration: 2 hours. Min age: 3 years.
Flights to Bilbao with Iberia. Transfers Bilbao to Arenas (2 hours): shared bus transfer. Food all breakfasts included. Swimming optional day at the beach and river swimming on canoe day. Min. Age 3 years (although most activities have a min. age of 5 or 12 years).

Wednesday Canyoning or Ribadesella Beach and museum
Canyoning: there's a number of canyons within 30 minutes drive of Arenas. Equipped with wetsuits and helmets, we descend the water-filled canyon with abseils, optional jumps into deep pools and water slides. Duration: 4-5 hours. Min. age: 12 years. Requirements: ability to swim. Ribadesella Beach: for the younger kids we offer a day at the beach, also the site of Europe's largest dinosaur footprints, and a visit to the Jurassic museum. Duration: 5-6 hours. Min. age: 3 years.

Monday Rock climbing or treasure hunt
Rock climbing: beginners session takes place on the outskirts of Arenas. All routes are top-roped for maximum safety. After initial instruction we will climb in groups of three. Those who want can try more testing routes, available in the same location. Duration: up to 5 hours. Min. age: 10 years. Treasure hunt: a fun way to learn to use a map and compass, with some treasure at the end! Duration: 3-5 hours. Min. age: 5 years.
Friday Canoeing or quad-biking
Canoeing: a fun day out canoeing in open boats down a 15km section of the River Sella; the route includes some easy class 1 rapids (lunch included). Duration: 5-6 hours including transport. Min. age: 5 years. Requirements: ability to swim. Guided quad-bike ride: 2 person bikes with children as passengers. Duration: 3 hours including transport. Min. age: drivers: 18 years, passengers: 5 years. Requirements: drivers must have a valid driving licence.
BOOKING YOUR ACTIVITIES
All the above activities are optional. When you book, please specify the number of days you want activities using the table of codes and prices opposite. On some days, there is a choice of options available for different ages. On arrival in Arenas you will be asked to specify which activities you want to take part in. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult on each activity.
