The Ships
The Akademik loffe & the Akademik Sergey Vavilov are icerated ships and considered the best in their class in the Polar regions. State-of-the-art in terms of safety, speed, noise & comfort, they are also the newest and carry just over 100 passengers each. All cabins have outside views and are comfortably furnished. The ample public areas include a library, bar, lounge, sauna, open-air plunge pool for the insane and bridge access as well as spacious top deck for spectacular views. Our chefs provide a choice of outstanding international menus and almost all diets can be catered for. For the Emperor Penguin Safari you are on the Kapitan Khlebnikov - a purpose-built, polar-class icebreaker carrying 108 passengers. It features helicopter excursions, Zodiac landings and specialist presentations like the other ships. It has two dining rooms, a lounge and bar, heated indoor swimming pool, exercise room and sauna, heated auditorium, library and clinic. You are also given your own jacket emblazoned with the ship's logo. For expeditions in Spitzbergen we use the Akademik Sergey Vavilov except on the Spitzbergen Explorer when we use the Professor Molchanov and Maryshev. These are small ice-rated vessels perfect for both the pack ice of the Svalbard archipelago and manoeuvring close to glaciers and with a maximum of just 50 passengers.

Cabin Arrangements on the loffe and Vavilov
All cabin prices are on a share basis; single passengers are automatically 'shared' thus avoiding the single supplement. If you require a single cabin please contact us. All cabins are outside facing with portholes or windows.
