LILLEHAMMER OLYMPIC BOBSLED WEEKEND

A high adrenalin weekend in Norway's Olympic capital
There can be few experiences that match the speed and excitement of bobsledding. There are three different methods of descending the famous icetrack; the `bob-raft' takes 5 passengers and travels at speeds of 70-80 kmh. The `taxi-bob' is the real Olympic bob, with 1 pilot and 3 passengers. Speeds can reach up to 120 kmh, with pressures of 5G round the final bends - there really is nothing like it! Finally there is the `skeleton' - a one-man luge - you travel face down, nose inches from the ice. Friday (less busy than the weekends) is a full day at the ice track with a special programme of events including the bobsled. On Saturday we include a morning at the excellent toboggan piste, and a free afternoon at Hafjell, Lillehammer's local ski centre.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Fly from Heathrow to Oslo; train to Lillehammer. Day 2: Full day at Hunderfossen Olympic Park. We include a snowmobile ride, bobraft and taxi-bob. Skeleton optional. Day 3: Morning tobogganing in Lillehammer; afternoon transfer to Hafjell ski area (10 mins) for downhill skiing (optional). Day 4: Train from Lillehammer to Oslo. Fly from Oslo to Heathrow.

HOTEL
A modern hotel in a convenient location in the centre of Lillehammer, 400 metres from the train station. Primarily a business hotel, in the last 2 years the Rica Victoria has seen extensive modernisation in both the public areas and rooms, offering an excellent standard of service, style and value for money.
