Pyrenees Snowshoe Expedition
France & Spain 8 days Grade C
An exciting snowshoe expedition exploring the French and Spanish Pyrenees A tougher version of our popular Pyrenees Winter Walk and Snowshoe. From La Feniere, our base near Luchon, we will take two warm-up walks in the surrounding mountains, returning each night to the warmth of a log fire. We then head out on a remote three-day hut-based expedition in the heart of the Aigues Tortes National Park, a short distance over the Spanish border. Staying in simple but hospitable manned mountain huts, we will trek among spectacular peaks and valleys, in deep unbroken snow. Here we'll enjoy some superb snowshoeing, climbing to passes and crossing frozen lakes. This is adventurous snowshoeing at its best.

Activity Profile: An exciting 5 days of snowshoeing involving 3 days light backpacking. Some mountain walking experience is essential. Grade: C. Group: Min. 2, max. 10. Min. age 18 yrs. LA FENIERE & MOUNTAIN HUTS MOUNTAIN LODGE See left for details of La Feniere'. During our three day expedition we spend two nights in manned mountain huts which have simple dormitory accommodation. Washing and bathroom facilities are basic.
Itinerary
Day 1: Fly from Gatwick to Toulouse (15.05 - 17.45); transfer to Luchon (under 2 hours). Days 2/3: Local walks and snowshoe familiarisation. Day 4: First day of snowshoe expedition. Drive to Spain and hike through the Aigua Motx Valley to the Colomers Refuge. Day 5: Exploration of the wild Colomers region; overnight in the Colomers or the Ventosa Refuge. Day 6: Further snowshoe exploration in morning, return to bus and La Feniere. Day 7: Free day for relaxation or optional activities. Day 8: Transfer to Toulouse; fly from Toulouse to Gatwick (18.25 - 19.15). Flight times subject to confirmation.
