Varied snowshoe walks through Italy's most stunning mountain range
From our hotel in the village of Villabassa we have access to many excellent areas for snowshoe exploration. To the north we walk along forest trails that lead across rounded hills to remote places such as San Silvestro chapel. Above this quiet spot the mountains rise to the frontier with Austria - here we can reach the ridges of Monte Calvo (2493m) and perhaps attempt the summit. To the south lie the spectacular Dolomites themselves and there is a choice of wonderful routes in the Fanes-Sennes Natural Park and beneath the impressive Tre Cime de Lavaredo, perhaps the most famous image of the entire Dolomites.

No previous experience is required but you should have a reasonable level of fitness. Grade: B.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Fly from Gatwick to Innsbruck (13.15 - 16.10), transfer to Villabassa (approx. 2 hours). Days 2/7: Five guided snowshoe daywalks, plus one free day. Day 8: Transfer to Innsbruck, fly from Innsbruck to Gatwick (17.00 - 17.55).
HOTEL ADLER
HOTEL
Located on the village square, this quality hotel is one of the most comfortable that we feature. The cosy bar is often busy with locals, while the quiet lounge is warmed by a log fire. The hotel's other facilities include an indoor pool, sauna, solarium and small fitness centre. The well-known restaurant, run by head chef Helene Markart, appears in the Michelin Guide among others; the menu features a mixture of local and international cuisine. All bedrooms are spacious and have en suite facilities, minibar and TV.
