Whilst none of our itineraries require technical skills and are aimed variously at the novice through to the regular rider, some do require previous experience of biking in the mountains. We provide the mountain bikes, which are fully suited to the terrain and remove the inconvenience and expense of bringing your own bike. Our tours are on a mixture of surfaced roads and dirt tracks in remote areas and are fully supported throughout by 4WD Landrovers, giving you the flexibility to do as much or as little riding as you wish each day. The distances given for each tour are therefore a guide to the maximum possible each day. From our base at Tafraoute deep in the heart of the mountains we bike through oases and across plateaux to explore remote communities, palmfringed valleys and orchards. Our last two days are spent on the southern slopes of the High Atlas riding through pine forests and a spectacular descent through lush palmeries and small villages to the Atlantic coast. Predominantly on surfaced roads, this tour provides a range of gradients and some steep descents, suitable for those with some previous biking experience. We base ourselves in hotels throughout to ensure comfort as well as adventure. In the shadow of the sacred peak of Mgoun (4071m) we ride its southern slopes through berber villages and high passes. Crossing desert-like plateaux we finally descend the Dades Gorge and explore the Rose-growing region around Boumalne du Dades and the 'Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs' before returning to Ouarzazate. While gradients are not extreme, this tour is mainly on dirt roads and does suit the rider with basic technical experience. Accommodation is in a variety of gites and auberges in the villages and gorges of the south.
