Join us on an adventure into the Polar Circle where we discover an arctic region unlike any other. Greenland is a tale of survival against the odds, where man and animals have learnt to live and even thrive in the extreme conditions. Modern day conveniences and more regular winter flights mean that it is now possible for us to also experience something of the remoteness and magic of this fascinating region. Weather permitting, this tour also offers a very good chance of seeing one of the most breathtaking of all natural spectacles, the Northern Lights.
Arctic Wildlife After a night in Copenhagen, we board our flight that will take us to a land of glaciers and fjords, a landscape that is painted white by each fresh fall of snow. Kangerlussuaq is widely regarded
as one of the best places in Greenland to observe native wildlife. On arrival we waste no time travelling out to spot some of the larger mammals such as musk oxen and caribou. Far rarer, although equally thrilling, are sightings of the elusive arctic fox and arctic hare. Our guide will be on hand to explain how these creatures have evolved to survive in this harshest of environments. Inland Ice Cap and Northern Lights The following days are left free for you to choose from the wide variety of optional winter activities on offer here. Experience the thrill of dog sledding; snowmobiling through the pristine wilderness; take a fascinating trip up on to the inland ice cap by 4-wheel drive or even try your luck ice fishing in the fjord. If the nights are clear, there is also a very good chance of seeing the spectacular Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, on any one of the evenings we spend here.
