Golden Dunes & Sesriem Canyon From Windhoek we head straight to one of the jewels of Namibia's natural wonders - NamibNaukluft National Park, protecting one of the oldest deserts on earth. Here we find the classic image of huge dunes bathed in the low sun with a lone gemsbok or acacia tree the only sign of life. We also explore the cool tranquillity of Sesriem Canyon, carved by the Tsauchab River. Swakopmund & Ancient Damaraland There's the opportunity to take a balloon flight over the surrounding plains and mountains before we spend time at the Germaninfluenced town of Swakopmund with a range of activities on offer. Moving north via the famous seal colonies of Cape Cross we enter Damaraland to discover Brandberg Mountain and the spectacular rock art at Twyfelfontein. Gamelands of Etosha Finally we enter the celebrated gamelands of Etosha National Park, dominated by Etosha pan, a seemingly endless horizon of silverywhite sand. Home to huge herds of game and some of the most startling and photogenic scenery in Africa we explore the open plains and dense bush hoping to see elephant, rhino and lion as well as springbok, zebra, wildebeest and giraffe around the numerous waterholes. Join us on a classic safari through the scenic landscapes of northern Namibia. Travelling by safari truck and following a very similar route to our Namib Wilderness & Wildlife safari, this trip is based on lodge accommodation rather than camping. The Highest Dunes on Earth First we head southwest into the Namib Desert, the oldest desert on Earth, to explore Sesriem Canyon and the sand dunes and pans of the Sossusvlei area. Theres time for a dawn balloon flight (optional) over the dunes before leaving the sands for the seas as we enjoy a scenic drive to the Atlantic coast. We reach Swakopmund and then visit the thriving Cape Cross Seal Colony (home to up to 100,000 Cape fur seals). Damaraland & Salt Pans of Etosha Next we enter southern Damaraland and begin our exploration of the area a unique cultural and conservational experience. At the heart of Etosha National Park lie the sprawling salt pans, once a lake the size of Holland. Dating back some 12 million years, its now a silvery depression of dust-laden mirages. In terms of game viewing, many consider Etosha as one of the very best parks in Africa.
