Gulet Cruise
The Traditional Sail Boat Holidaying on a gulet cruise gives the ideal opportunity to enjoy one of the world's enchanting locations at an easy pace of life. Gulet cruising originally started from humble beginnings with fishermen who had to endure basic facilities and sleeping arrangements more than half a century ago. The cruising developed and was labelled 'Mavi Yolculuk', (Blue Cruise) and today's vessels now provide comfort and safety for the modern day traveller but still maintain the ethos and tradition of the original cruise boats. The vessels are still made from specifically chosen hardwood using traditional carpentry methods and are run by an experienced captain and his crew. The mode of travel nowadays is an engine although the sails can still be used to propel the vessel around the coastline. Relaxed Pace of Life Life on board is very much about discovering small coves and being outdoors. The Explore Tour Leader assists with walks or excursions to a number of architectural sites and villages along the route although the stops can be flexible. However, there will always be plenty of time to relax and unwind or swim and snorkel around the many bays. The gulet has a sundeck and awning which provides enough shade during the day as well as fully furnished double or twin en-suite WC/shower cabins alternatively, you could even sleep on deck under the star studded sky. Food is generally bought from the local village or market along the way and cooked on board by our crew, Turkish style and why not sample a glass of the local wine while dinning. A Typical Day Gulet cruising allows you to unwind and relax to a rhythm of life on the sea that suits your holiday. The cruise takes in the best of Turkey's delightful south western shoreline, occasionally stopping to walk through villages or visit ancient sites or islands. Meal times are generally buffet style with a selection of salads, meats and fishes (vegetarians can be catered for). The afternoon may find the gulet mooring in a cove for a leisurely swim stop and then the captain finds an overnight mooring area before dusk as you settle down for the main meal of the day.
