GREECE, CYPRUS & TURKEY Surreal landscapes of Capadoccia TURKEY Sea-kayaking at Kekova Asia Minor Explorer 15 DAYS HOTELS HIGHLIGHTS OF TURKEY Ref TU JFMAMJJASOND JFMA A trip full of variety. We stay at small hotels, visit famous classical sites like Ephesus and Troy, relax on the stunning coastline and discover the hidden villages and traditional towns of the Anatolian Plateau. Cappadocia Subterranean Cities After a look at the great sites of Istanbul we travel to Ankara - the modern but equally compelling capital of Turkey. Crossing the Anatolian Plateau to the surreal, volcanic landscape of Cappadocia, we'll spend time exploring the underground city of Kaymakli, dating back to the time of the mysterious Hittites, and visit ancient Goreme, where the fairy chimneys' and rock-cut houses still provide homes to the Cappadocian people. In Konya, home of the Whirling Dervishes, we visit the Mevlana Museum, before continuing to the attractive lakeside town of Egirdir. The Lycian Coast We spend two days soaking up the atmosphere and spectacular scenery of the Lycian coastline. Set against a wild mountain backdrop of dense green forest, this is perhaps the most beautiful part of all Turkey. Pamukkale, Ephesus, Troy & Gallipoli Heading north, we visit the marble ruins of Aphrodisias, and stop to see the white travertines of Pamukkale cascading down the hillside. In the magnificent and sprawling Greco-Roman seaport of Ephesus we discover one of the best preserved ancient sites to be found anywhere. Finally we explore the lofty acropolis of Pergamum and the ruins of ancient Troy before crossing the Dardanelles to the battlefields of Gallipoli and returning to Istanbul for our last night.
