Itineraries
The holidays in this brochure use the services of many suppliers and are planned months or years in advance. Consequently, there are factors over which we have no control and which could make changes to any trip necessary. If we are aware of major changes we will always try to let you know in advance.

Flight arrangements
On each page we have detailed the airline we intend to use for the itinerary published. Unless stated otherwise, the prices shown include connecting flights from London and back to London. These have been selected to fit in with the itinerary. These are normally based on scheduled economy flights and Tour Operator fares. The nature of tour operating means that sometimes the airline, the routing, the booking class and consequently the price may vary, in which case an additional flight supplement may sometimes be payable. Families Worldwide can arrange domestic flights from most regional airports around the UK to connect with the international flights booked by Families Worldwide from London. These are competitively priced and are generally booked through the airline being used for your international flight. This means the flights are flexible, so if the international flight changes, the domestic flight will also be changed at no extra cost. It usually allows you to check your luggage from your local airport through to the final destination airport. Please be aware that many of the special fares are not available within six weeks of travel. Due to the number of flight schedule changes Families Worldwide will not book domestic flights that are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you decide to make alternative flight arrangements, we recommend that you do not purchase non-flexible connecting flight/rail/bus tickets for group trips as they can incur penalty charges in the event of a change or cancellation.
Not included
Overseas departure/entry taxes, airport transfers if booking on a Land Only' basis, excess baggage charges, porterage, insurance, passports, visas, vaccinations, optional excursions and any items of a personal nature.
Rooming
Rooming is generally organised on a twin share basis, but where possible, triple or family rooms will be used where they are available. As there are many varying shapes and sizes of families (the combinations are almost limitless!) it is impossible to predict the exact rooming arrangements for every hotel on every tour. We room each family as best we can knowing that you want to be close to your children and share adjoining rooms in your hotel where possible. Occasionally, multi-share or dormitory style accommodation will be used where you are sharing with other families. Singe room accommodation is available at many hotels, lodges and this is subject to a single room supplement. Otherwise if there are an odd number of you travelling and we are unable to accommodate you in a triple room, we will room you with a fellow adult member from the group of the same-sex.
Prices
Prices shown in this brochure are on a per person basis, based on shared accommodation (unless stated otherwise). Please refer to the itinerary and Trip Dossier for exact details of what is included in the price. Prices and itineraries shown for tours departing from April 2009 onwards are subject to change and confirmation with the publication of our 2009/10 brochure, due to be published September 2008. Child prices - Our prices reflect any discounts given by airlines for children under 12. There are few reductions on land costs due to the unpredictability of the precise make-up and size of every family, availability of rooms etc (see Rooming' below). Local Payment/Kitty - On a few trips, an additional Local Payment or Kitty must be paid. This is an extra payment which forms part of the price of the tour. Instead of being paid to Families Worldwide at the time of invoice, this amount is paid to your Tour Leader on arrival at the start of the trip. It is normally paid in cash in the currency stated. This payment is usually used for a specific purpose, such as internal flights or national park permits which have to be paid for in cash. Occasionally, the Local Payment is used by our tour leaders/agents to pay for some of the local operating costs (such as hotels, guides, mules, camels, campsite fees, food, entrance fees etc). Suggested itineraries - For tailor-made tours, where we suggest an itinerary, the price quoted is based on a family of four travelling. This is correct at the time of going to print but may vary depending on the accommodation, excursions, airline and time of year you choose. Fuel Surcharges - Due to oil price fluctuations, airlines sometimes introduce fuel surcharges. Families Worldwide reserve the right to pass on any additional costs to new and existing bookings prior to departure. Tour extensions - The prices shown for extensions are priced on the assumption that you take our international flights from the UK. Extension prices may sometimes be higher if you book on a Land Only basis.
Flight delays
Please be aware that delays either prior to departure from the UK, en route to the starting point of your tour or on your return journey may occur. This may be the result of inclement weather conditions, technical problems with the aircraft, air traffic control problems, airline or airport staff strike action, last minute schedule changes, security issues, and airline overbooking problems. Each airline has a different policy as to how it deals with these situations depending on the severity of the delay. Most provide meal and drink vouchers or even accommodation if the delay is substantial. Families Worldwide has no control over flight delays or the provision of vouchers or accommodation, and standard airline policy applies in all cases.
Group travel
Many of our trips are designed to operate as a group of families travelling together. The maximum group size varies from one trip to another but the majority average 12-16 people; a few have a maximum of 22. Each group is generally made up of between three and six families. Parents' ages range from around 35-55, while kids are just about any age most being between eight and 12, but there are plenty of trips which suit younger children and toddlers too. Single parents - Whether you're single, or have just decided to travel without your partner, you are very welcome and would be a typical part of any group. Meeting like-minded families, whether you're single or a couple, is part of the fun of our style of travel. We usually find that within 24 hours of arrival, the kids have all gelled together to the extent that they almost function as an independent unit. That leaves the parents free to relax and keep just a watchful eye on things, rather than having to entertain constantly.
Accommodation
Our aim is to stay at friendly, clean and comfortable properties with local character and atmosphere. This could include anything from luxurious lodges through to mid-range hotels, pensions, guesthouses, hostels, local houses, tented camps, campsites etc. Standards can vary considerably from one country to another and we offer a range of differing levels of sophistication so please read the brochure and Trip Dossiers carefully to choose a trip that is right for you.
Tour Leaders
Families Worldwide leaders are much more than guides or package holiday reps. On some trips we employ local leaders where we feel this adds to the knowledge, insights and opportunities that only locals can provide. Our leaders will arrange transport, accommodation and any other logistical arrangements during the trip as well as providing practical information about the country, its culture, background and food.
