The Atlas Mountains

The Atlas rise from the plains of Morocco in majestic grandeur. Sprinkled throughout are scores of tiny villages, inhabited by traditional Berber communities. Tucked into the folds of the hills, there are some great places to stay.

Kasbah du Toubkal
Luxurious, traditional and situated below the giant peaks of the High Atlas, this is one of Moroccos finest hotels. Rooms have en-suite facilities and there is also a Berber salon with shared accommodation dormitory style. The Kasbah took many years to renovate and utilized traditional Berber craftsmen from all over the region.
Facilities: Private facilities, garden, restaurant, terraces, hammam.

Hotel Tacheddirt
Recently completed and built in traditional Berber style, this remote hotel is one of the highest in the mountains with fantastic views (see below). A good base for walks in the region.
Facilities: Private facilities in some rooms, shared in others. Restaurant. Great sunsets and star-gazing.
