Run by Papa George and Kostas, the Nereus Hotel prides itself on its nothing's-too-much trouble approach. As such, a stay here means you're treated more like an extended member of the family - a big part of the reason so many guests return year after year. It comes up trumps on the location front, too. It's no more than a 15-minute walk to picturesque Paphos harbour that's lined with tavernas and makes for a great place to eat out. As for the hotel itself, it's got a traditional feel - all whitewashed walls, flat roofs and bright blue shutters. In terms of your own personal space, the bedrooms are comfortable, simply-dressed bases. Contemporary trimmings include air-conditioning, satellite TVs and hairdryers. Plus, you get your own balcony or veranda, too. Outside, meanwhile, there are two swimming pools to choose from - they're not huge but certainly big enough for a cool-down dip. Factor in a poolside bar and two wide sun terraces and it's a great place to unwind. Food-wise, the hotel serves up big international buffets using fresh seasonal ingredients. There are plenty of Cypriot specialities to try, as well as weekly Greek, Italian and barbecue theme nights. And if you fancy a taste of home, their famous Sunday roast will hit the spot.
