Bulgaria
Sunny Beach takes the trophy for best beach resort in these parts. Calm waters, soft sands and a healthy quota of bars and restaurants what's not to like?
Greece
Corfu
Beach-lovers, breathe easy Corfu clocks up no fewer than 32 Blue Flag stretches. Corfu Town's a real highlight, too. The old quarter is a great mish-mash of old squares, drinking dens and shops.
Rhodes
Zante
Zante is a dab hand at holidays, dishing up family-friendly resorts, party hubs and quiet hideaways, not to mention one of the best coastlines in the Med. The feather in Rhodes' cap is its capital, Rhodes Town. The old quarter is a maze of cobbled streets, with a huge fortified palace and some lovely spots to grab a bite to eat.
Turkey
On the one hand, Turkey's all about the beaches check out Kusadasi's sandy stretches for size. On the other, it's about historical biggies, like Ephesus. Take the kids to this ruined city for a trip back in time.
Cyprus Egypt
Hurghada Sharm El Sheikh
This is a beach-lover's fantasy. As well as coral reefs ripe for finding Nemo, it's got on the other, sands that see to it you won't go anywhere for a long, long time.
This place has the full spectrum of on-the-water action everything from snorkelling to glass-bottom boat rides. And let's not forget the haggle-happy bazaars and fabulous beach scene.
With its soft-sand and clearsea combo, Cyprus can do no wrong as far as kids are concerned. Add the Troodos Mountains and the Tombs of the Kings, and mums and dads are sorted, too.
