Click on firstchoice.co.uk for more details There's no mistaking the Caesar Palace. Its walls are covered in thick ivy and the grounds are dotted with ferns and palms. Like so many hotels, the large swimming pool is a big hit with guests especially with the pool bar serving up icy-cold drinks. Head inside, and the bedrooms are definitely on the big side. They also include air-con in the summer months, satellite TVs and bathrobes. Nice. As for what's out and about, you're roughly a 15 minute drive from Taormina. And it's 20-25-minutes' walk from the beach, give or take. Alternatively, the hotel's shuttle bus runs you into Giardini centre and to the beach in 10 minutes!

Click on firstchoice.co.uk for more details Set on the top of a rocky wooded hillside, this hotel overlooks Letojanni and the coast beyond. The hotel is actually part of a complex of cascading properties, which are all linked by a funicular lift. At the top there's the Olimpo, in the middle the Terrazze, and towards the bottom, the Antares. Thomson has rooms in the Olimpo and the Terrazze, although all guests arrive via the Antares. The rooms are roomy, if a little bit dated in terms of décor. Food-wise, breakfast is a Continental affair while dinner offers up plenty of variety. There's a good-sized swimming pool and sun terrace. There's also a lift that links the complex to ground level, providing easy access to Letojanni and the beach.
